Kisses and love

Here two fascinating pieces of art which represent love. The first one is Klimt's Love (1895). It was one of the first masterpiece of the Austrian painter. We can see a topic which has to do with  lovers involved in passion, allegoric elements which project the work into a higher  ground. Above the couple appear some faces representing youth, old age and adverse forces, which were typical presences of the symbolist painting at the en d of the century, referring to the difficulties and expiration of existence.

The second one , Francesco Hayez The Kiss (1859).Picture rich in symbology and reflects the historical context of the independence wars, though the most immediate reading key is that of the passionate kiss of the couple predomining the scene, being a romantic symbol posteriorly used in cinema.

Thinking of old times

From time to time old memories come back to my mind. Sometimes these are images, flavours, smells...and in some occasions images with music. Related to this last one, I remember an old series which I saw when I was little. I don't know why but I was fascinated with The Munsters. Those weird and at the same time tender characters entered into my world. Saturday mornings had a meaning , and waking up was worth it. Here, today one of those memories has shown up, and as present here I leave what was the original theme.

Monumentale

I am a fan of cementeries, I mean, I like to have a walk and get lost among the narrow paths surrounded by the majestuous and enigmatic sculptures they hold. Staring in front of statues and imagining stories is something that has always trapped me. I've recently been to Milan, and couldn't leave the city without paying a visit to its huge cementery, the Monumentale. Now I understand why it has this name, it has an area of 250,000 m2 , and it takes a while to have an idea of what it contains. Italian well-known writer Manzoni's tomb has its place in the impressive building at the very entrance. If by any chance you are in Lombardy's capital , I recommend you to go in here, you won't regret it. Impressive.
Here some of the details you can find.

Su Blackwell. Art in books.

I am sure you have read some books in your life which have life in it. However, I m sure you have not found such lively books like the ones Su Blackwell creates. Pure art and beauty made paper. Great.

Tom Mostyn

Someone very especial made me discover this great painter, unknown for me, full of evocative and vivid landscapes on his canvas. It is Tom Mostyn, a Bristish painter from the XIX century.  Great  discovery. Thanks.

Victorian times calling me

As I always do from time to time, I like to post things from the past or at least, that are inspired by an old era. Victorian times are one of my favourites if not the most. Although these are not exactly new or recent ones, I would like to share these videos with you.
The first one is about a doll's dinner, you will see is a very particular one... I like the tiny atmosphere that is created and the crafty work their authors have done, all women. (Giulia Barelli, Valentina Branchetti, Benedetta Cariani, Eleonora Gambula, Julile Luchsinger, Laila Sonsino and Alessandra Todaro)

The interesting thing from the second one is not as much as the music but the images and animation themselves. If you have seen other Tom Werber works such as Lush Victorian  Christmas commercial you will understand what I mean ( I posted this long time ago ) . Well; enjoy these engravement-animated-piece-of-art!

Young Galaxy- Pretty Boy

Happy weekend ending !

Happy Mother's Day

Do you know where does this tradition come from? Have you ever thought about it? Well, the truth is that this celebration in particular has its origin, at least the way we know it today , in the US. However, it doesn't mean that honouring the figure of the mother does not date back to ancient times. From this remote past , Mothering Day or Mothering Sunday, was the name given to the celebration honouring mothers. We shall not confuse this Christian origins with the ones from the XXth century.
This modern celebration took place first in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother. After this she began a campaign to make it become a national holiday, and it was not until the beginning of the 1920s when it became a commercialised idea.
Despite the origin or tradition you want to choose or feel more identified with, have a nice Mother's Day!

Getting lost in notes

Here some proposals from different musicians, all of them of incredible value having the capacity to make oneself get lost in their music and into yourself.
The first from Owen Pallett, also known as Final Fantasy, with E is for stranded. Don't know how many times I've listened to it...
The second Nils Frahms and Anne Müller Let my key be C. Sublime music and in this occasion into a video that makes you enter into a rare world ,thanks to Saegloopur.
Last but not least another trip to a collapsing world in The Crumbling    by Valgeir Sigurðsson   & Hildur Guðnadóttir. Great images.

Being the pioneers...falling

Here one of the songs that once discovered cannot forget. I found a nice but short animation video that uses part of the song and it really fits the atmosphere. Then you can see them play live. I know you try..straight into my heart, you fly straight into my heart...but here comes the falls...

Last words of the day...

Someone wise thought this long ago...bear it in mind sometimes, otherwise we couldn't move on. Now, for sure, good night.

Before Friday comes...

Two different porposals for tonight. One from some years ago, Cat People and its theme Behind. Just great.
The second has to do with my childhood memories, The Thin White Duke, or better known, David Bowie. It's been hard to choose one but here's one of the many I love. Happy night.
